Sewing Room Redesign, Stage3 - Shelves

We have shelves! I can not believe it has been a month since I last worked on my sewing room. I thought for sure I would have banged out the whole remodel in less than a month. I guess reality moves slower than my imagination..lol

So all the button jars that were on my cutting table, are now neat and organized on the shelf. Along with my jars of elastic, hairbands, fabric covered buttons and more.

I didn't put up as many shelves as I originally drafted out in my last post, but it works perfectly. Oh and see that little bust in the corner of the room, blending in....

It's "C 2.0". Yesterday I duct taped my eldest daughter C to create a dress form. As much as I would love to have a professional child size form, I do not have the several hundred dollars to spend. Although, I did have $3 dollars for a roll of aqua duct tape..lol It is not the prettiest thing, granted it is very hard to tape a 6 year old who can't stand still, but it will work! Now I just have to get a rod and base so I can make it a stand alone form. I used a picture tutorial from Personalized Fashion as the inspiration for my dress form. It is just such a smart idea!

Along with this sewing room redo was a little computer space. I took the cubby area between my armoire and wall and turned it into my office space. Hubster put in a floating table for my laptop, shelves and a peg board. It is the perfect size area and does not take up any extra space since it was actually just wasted space.

My next step is decorating. I want to make some curtains, maybe a cool bunting or two and hang some pictures. I suspect this will take another month..lol Oh well. I have the time!

Hi.
Love the jars. Have you seen this tutorial by ikat bag - http://www.ikatbag.com/2011/07/fleur.html
She makes a dress-makers model of herself. Lots of cardboard etc but it is brilliant and I am sure you could use the ideas in it to create a child sized one.
