It's Cold In NEPA, Just Ask The Dog

We woke to snow this morning. Actually I woke to a phone call from my girls school at 0515 that school was on a 2 hour delay. Funny thing is my girls do not have school today...it is conference day. So now I am awake and fuming because not only was I in the middle of a fabulous dream, but I was looking forward to sleeping in.

Sookie heard me stirring in the room and came in to check on me. I say my good morning to her and she jumps on the bed with me and is shaking. Poor baby was cold. It was a bit colder downstairs than I thought and I knew she was going to have to go out for her morning potty brake, I started thinking of what I could do to keep her warm.

Sookie is a San Diego beach dog. While she has fared well in the PA cold and LOVES the snow she was really cold this morning. So I crept into my girls room while they slept and snagged a sweater. Not to bad of a fit right?

I think Sookie was feeling pretty special however when the cat (Meow Meow) came into the room, well I guess it freaked her out because she started growling, hissing and got herself all puffy...lol It took her a minute to realize it was her BFF, but it was hilarious while it was happening.

Wordless Wednesday - Halloween Costume

Okay so this is a not so Wordless Weds. I am still cracking up tho. Yes this is Sookie and if this doesn't show you what kind of an amazing dog she is, this should be proof. I totally did not plan on buying her a costume for Halloween but while M and I were at Target the other day we came across the isle for dog costumes. I then thought "well maybe just a scarf or something small" After all she is going to be trick or treating with us ........then M pointed this out and I died laughing right there smack dab in the isle. With strangers giving me the eye, I tried to compose myself. I knew I could not pass up this gift.

Saturday Bentos & More Dogs

C's Lunch

M's Lunch

We spent another awesome overcast morning at Dog Beach in OB. We arrived even earlier than we did on Friday and the parking lot was already filling up. Meet some of our new furry friends.

- Buster -

Buster and his owner where heading back to the car when the energy of Sookie crossed their path. Poor Buster's owner had no choice but to let him of leash to play because Sookie wasn't giving up. They had the best time but a once clean Buster by the end was covered head to tail in sand. Buster at almost twice Sookie's size and only a year old was the most gentle of beasts and absolutely gorgeous!

The cutest puppy I have ever seen on the beach. She was only as big as a piglet but so adorable running around with her floppy paws. She is absolutely stunning.

I do not know this big boys name but I have seen him before. Once he had taken possession of a rather large log and anyone, man or beast, that came too close was chased away. However yesterday it was his Frisbee he stood guard over. Just love that face!

This old girl was so sweet. Out of no where this beautiful Mastiff came walking up and just wanted to love on C. Her owner had told me her name but I was too distracted by the way in which her and C kept looking at each other, like they saw each others soul. I hope to see her again very soon.

Newest Projects

This past weekend my hubby had drill which left me with the girls, minus my normal weekend "brake". Include the rain and wind and we had some cooped up peeps here. I decided to sit down the the machine I have been neglecting for awhile. I guess not really neglecting because I finished the 2 in 1 outfit for Michelle of Muffin Tin Mom. It is for her niece. She wanted a little dress and I took it a step further and added ruffled capri's so when she is bigger she can still wear the pillowcase dress as a top and add the pants for a while new outfit, it turned out so cute I think.

I finished the below summer dress for Ciera last Thursday. The pattern comes from Indietutes. I have been following her since I started blogging, she used to be called "Just Tuts". I remember when she came up with this lace up dress tut, I loved it and immediately made one for C. Well now she has a eBook for it with a pattern, so yay,  much easier...I am not so good drafting my own patterns...lol

What sewing did I do this weekend?


Sookie got a new fabric collar. The parachute clip as a reflector on it which I think is key for animals. She looks so cute in it. I have a couple more in the works for her. How many collars does one dog need? I dunno but I think it's like shoes and woman...lol

I bought some fabric from So Fun Fabrics on Etsy. Since we live in the same city I got to meetup with her for my fabric delivery on Sunday. She is a total sweetheart and I fell even more in love with the fabrics I bought once I saw them in person. This is what I made with it and I LOVE IT!

 

This pattern is from Portabellopixie. I bought this pattern when I first started really sewing clothes for C. It's been awhile since I made one but when I saw the fabrics I knew, this was the dress I had to make. This is by far one of my most favorite patterns. It always draws attention. So I wanted to make something for C's St Patty's Day at school. They are supposed to wear something "green" instead of their usual uniforms however I didn't want to do the traditional St Patty's theme, so this turned out perfect! I am so in love with it.

I also had some secret sewing going on this weekend. It involves a giveaway for dog and owner coming soon so keep your eyes out for that one :)

Now Even Your Dog Can Tweet 24/7!

So I was listening as I always do to "The Show" on my way to take C to school (LOVE THEM) and heard Sky reporting about this new device coming out from Mattel called Puppy Tweet. I knew when I got home I had to get more info on it. Are we really that involve in our online worlds that now our dogs can have the ability to tweet along with us? I guess the answer is yes.

This is what I found on CNN.

"Puppy Tweets is a plastic tag with a sound and motion sensor that you attach to your pet's dog collar and connect its USB receiver to your computer. Then you create a Twitter account for your dog and enjoy updates all day from Sparky or whatever its name is on your computer or smartphone.

The tag is set with several pre-recorded tweets that are triggered by the dog's activities. So if he's running around, you might get a tweet that says "I finally caught that tail I've been chasing and...OOUUUCHH!"
If Sparky is napping, he'll tweet "Somedays it feels like my paw is permanently on the snooze button!" If he's making a ruckus, his tweet will let you know that as well, saying"YAHOOOOOOO! Somedays you just gotta get your bark on."

"Puppy Tweets capitalizes on two popular trends - the use of social media and real time communication, as well as peoples' extreme love for their dogs," said Susan Russo, Mattel's director of marketing.
Puppy Tweets is part of the No. 1 toymaker's line-up of new products for 2010 that it showcased to members of the media Thursday ahead of the industry's annual Toy Fair in New York next month.
Jim Silver, a toy industry analyst and editor-in-chief of TimetoPlayMag.com, said he was "curious" about Puppy Tweets when he first saw it.

"I thought that a 5-year-old doesn't know about Twitter," he said. But he said that Mattel is going after an entirely different market and "expanding beyond kids" with Puppy Tweets. "This is a product for adults."

Does it make sense?

Said Silver,"It's a good thing to try especially since no one else has come up with a pet product quite like this."
Puppy Tweets will be available at retailers in the fall, and will carry a suggested retail price of $29.99.


So would you spend 30 bucks to buy this for your dog?

Let's Talk About The Right To Free Speech

I have seen it happen on other peoples blogs and am always so surprised. However it has never happened on my blog granted I do not post, hardly ever, anything negative or objectionable by other peoples standards until yesterday apparently. Is this not MY blog? Is there not freedom of speech? Can I not use MY blog to post my thoughts and feelings? Does it always have to be happy go lucky fluff? Did I not post a "Beware Of Language" on my title and then add in the first paragraph "..and with that comes language I feel appropriate at the time.. be for warned".

So while yesterday and still today I am getting much support and understanding from my awesome readers but there was one who felt the need to be nervy on MY blog and post this. Now I know she has the write to her opinion and I have no problem if someone doesn't agree with me but a) do not personally attack my character, and b) get your facts straight first.

"I can't believe that you said all those nasty things on the web!! I am sorry, that woman was rude but you have serious anger issues. Get help.

Two studies have found that deaths and major injuries are 74% likely to be caused by 3 breeds. I am sorry that your dog happens to be one of them. Absolutely, a pit bull is better mannered than other dogs. But a maltese cannot kill someone but a pit bull can. I bet maltese's bite a whole lot more people, but they can't kill someone. So yes, I am a dogist. I racially discriminate. I will allow my kids to approach maltese's but would NEVER allow them to approach a pit bull."

So let's brake down your comment.

1)  How dare you tell me I have "serious anger issues" and to "get help". Do you know me personally? Do you actually ever read my blog and know the content? No, a "serious anger issue" would be if I went and yelled in that lady's face and then beat her down. Instead I chose to come onto MY blog and express my opinions. Did I not add "beware of language" in my title and did I not put in my first paragraph "..and with that comes language I feel appropriate at the time.. be for warned." So you already knew before you read this that it wasn't going to be a fluff piece right, and yet you still chose to read it. Would I go to your blog and leave a comment about your religious beliefs? No I wouldn't you know why, because your entitled to your own beliefs and opinions and to post them as such on your own blog.

No as discussed it is the stupid owners so you are still blaming the breed. Do you expect these idiot owners to train a tea cup poodle to be vicious? No they train the big dogs this way.

4) "I bet maltese's bite a whole lot more people, but they can't kill someone. So yes, I am a dogist. I racially discriminate. I will allow my kids to approach maltese's but would NEVER allow them to approach a pit bull."  So even admitting that Maltese's probably have a bigger bite incident you would still let your child go up to it and maybe get bitten? Then this comment you made ""Absolutely, a pit bull is better mannered than other dogs", makes no logical sense to me with your statement, "but would NEVER allow them to approach a pit bull." Your contradicting yourself.


5) Back to the "serious anger issues", "get help" comment. Does that mean that all my commenters who understood where I was coming from and lended their support and atta girls...does that mean they all have "anger issues" and "need help" as well?
