Cherry Filled Devil Food Cupcakes with Whipped Chocolate Frosting

After I was done with my house work I decided to make my neighbors some cupcakes. They have been so sweet, welcoming and helpful since we moved in I wanted to show my appreciation. While we are still in the move in process I am missing most of my "from scratch" baking ingredients but thanks to Duncan Hines cake mix, a can of cherry pie filling and Betty Crocker Whipped Frosting I made these tasty cupcakes. I really love having a few boxes of mix and frosting on hand and this is one of those reasons why.

Such a simple and easy cupcake to make and super tasty. I used the devils food cake mix and once cooled, I cored out the center of each cupcake and filled with the cherry pie filling. I love black forest cake so this is a perfect mini version of that type of cake. Chocolate and cherries...how can you go wrong?

I topped my cupcakes with the whipped chocolate frosting. I have never used the Betty Crocker Whipped Frosting before but am pleasantly surprised by the silky, airy texture and how it pipped so perfectly onto the cupcakes. Definitely my new favorite pre made frosting.

I need to get the hang of piping frosting, that makes everything look better and professional! But they sound pretty darn yummy anyway!
