Any Given Sunday

Sunday was an amazing day besides the fact it started with pulling a load of new clothes from the dyer only to find them covered in multicolor melted crayons! (pictures to be posted later, it was funny after the tears and mourning for the worn only once clothing had subsided)

So anyways back to the awesome day. Hubby and I decided to take the girls to Mission Beach for a walk first thing in the am. That is my most favorite time to hit the beach. I love the foggy, grey, overcast feel of the beach. I'd take it any day over a hot, sunny, crowded day. So after a good slow mile walk up and down the beach we decided to stop for breakfast. It was perfect. Sitting on the roof top overlooking the beach. The girls coloring, enjoying looking at the seagulls as they flew by, listening to the waves crash...and then there......out in the line up ("line up" is the place just outside the breaking waves where surfers wait for their waves) DOLPHINS! A school of dolphins just cruising by right past the surfer I had been watching only moments earlier. Have I said mentioned much I love being back in San Diego :)

After a wonderful breakfast of cinnamon french toast with wild berry puree, fresh fruit with vanilla yogurt and some strong black coffee we walked over to Belmont Park so the girls could go on a few rides. They were so happy. Seeing their smiley faces full of joy made me feel nothing but spectacular that we could give them a day like yesterday.

Looks like a lovely day, what fun to see dolphins! When I lived by San Francisco, we went to the ocean all the time. I didn't realize how fortunate we were to have that ability at the drop of the hat. You're pictures make me long for CA and wish I was on one of our SoCal trips.

I miss CA too!! When hubby was in the Marine Corp, we were stationed at Camp Pendleton and lived first in Vista, then Oceanside and finally San Clemente. I miss the weather and being able to see the ocean from our family room.
You guys looked like you had a relaxing day :o)

Thanks for following me. I look forward to reading about your family. I'm a beginner sewer with a new embroidery/sewing machine and I could use all of the advice that I can get. I love your Etsy page.

Look like your girls were having a wonderful time. I love the beach when it's not too hot and uncrowded. I don't live close to the beach, but I treasure the times I get to visit.

Crayons, ink pens, gum - how many things have I washed and dryed? LOL I always end up laughing but at the beginning it's not too funny loosing your favorite shirt, especially if it's new.

Oh, such a beautiful family. Glad you had a great day anyway. The crayon in the wash incident reminds me of that episode of Big Love when Margie does similar

Sigh. I wish we lived in that type of climate! I'm in NY where we hold our breath and simply hope that we get some sort of summer between spring and fall. This year didn't quite work out.

One day I will retire and be a full-time beach bum....not just a once-in-awhiler:) THAT's how much I love it...and your day sounds like the perfect way to start every day!
So jealous...we are nowhere near the beach and can only go if it's a planned vacay!

What a fun day...except for the whole melted crayons/ruined clothing business!

Sounds like our house...except my hubs is famous for PENS. Yeah.

Happy SITs.

I've had the crayon in the dryer happen too! The dryer still has blue residue around the rim, it must be baked in.

Oh I miss the beach; it sounds so beautiful! I totally understand the dryer issue....I can't tell you how many times I've pulled ink pens out of our dryer, that have spilled all their ink in blotches all over our clothing....ugh.

What a great day! Your kids will always remember time spent with them. Being in Florida is a blessing too (except for those brutle hot days) but being on the "gulf" side, there isn't much occasion for waves...unless of course, there's the hurricane.. oh well!

Wow!! Sounds like you live in a magical place! I'm all the way over on the east coast, but not directly on the ocean. I wish we got to the beach more than the handful of times we go in the summer!!

I LOVE San Diego! I would still love to move their some day. I guess we will see where hubby's job takes us.

I have ate at that same restaurant twice before. Great views of mission beach and just around the corner from Belmont park. I have not seen dolphins there. That sounds fabulous!

We are visiting San Diego in March. It will only be hubby's second time so I am looking forward to showing him more fabulous places in San Diego I love!

okay I can say I am truly thankful I have never had to live through crayons in the dryer. That might just be the breaking point for me. ;)

Looks like you had a fab day otherwise. I love those kind of mornings on the beach too.

happy feature SITS day!

AmericanTribal said...

Well, the crayons in the drier was no fun... but, seriously, this post made me miss the beach sooooo much. I lived in Ft. Lauderdale and I was super close to 4 different beaches. Then I moved to NC and now I'm 3 hours away from the closest ocean. Yuck :(
