I still have apples left over from our apple picking venture weeks ago. I still can't belive it, it's like the bag has no bottom. Anyways I wanted to make something and incorporate the canned pumpkin sitting in my pantry. It is too early to make pumpkin pie but I knew it had to be something I can also put into the girls lunches. So I turned to Google and found a delish recipe for all the ingredients I wanted to use.
The website is Taste Of Home and the recipe is Chunky Apple Pumpkin Bread. You can go to the link for the recipe or since I changed a few ingredients around you can try it my way...
Preheat oven to 325
Ingredients:
1-2/3 cups all-purpose flour
1-1/4 cups sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon all spice
1 cup canned pumpkin
1/2 cup water
2 eggs
1/3 cup canola oil
1 cup chopped peeled tart apples
3/4 cup chopped pecans
Directions:
In a large bowl, combine all dry ingredients. In medium bowl, whisk wet ingredients then stir into dry ingredients until mixed. Fold in apples and pecans.
Pour into a greased 9-in. x 5-in. loaf pan. Bake at 325° for 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 hours or until a butter knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Let it set for 10 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack to cool.

This looks and sound very yummy!!
I love pumpkin bread but never thought of adding apples to it!
Pumpkin bread is one of my favorites. I've never put apples into mine before, but it looks like a really good idea. I had a lot of apples too, so I made applesauce - http://sweet-as-sugar-cookies.blogspot.com/2010/10/homemade-applesauce.html.
Love anything pumpkin and apple. I made some pumpkin/apple streusel muffins last fall that were really good. Have you made caramel apples yet? I enjoy making mine dipped into milk chocolate after the caramel sets. Thanks for participating in "Sweet Sunday!" ~Kelly
