Simply Salads is simply amazing! I love salads of every kind so I was excited to have the opportunity to review Chef Jennifer Chandlers book Simply Salads. Over 100 easy and delicious recipes all made from prepackaged greens. With the time restraints we have on ourselves now a days how nice is it to offer healthy food to your families that you can make in just minutes.
Page after page are wonderful pictures of each plated salad accompanied by the salad and dressing or vinaigrette recipes. These are not your normal lettuce and veggie recipes. We are talking steak, chicken, seafood and much more. Any thing your craving you will find in this book.
Chef and Author Jennifer Chandler graduated at the top of her class with Le Grande Diplome and the Mention Tres Bein in Pastry from the Le Cordon Blue in Paris. She later moved back to her hometown Memphis, TN and opened a prepared foods market and bakery called Cheffie's Market and More. Cheffie's was voted best new restaurant in Memphis and has received much acclaim and awards. Jennifer is a full time mom of two girls, freelance writer and a self proclaimed professional salad eater.
I couldn't wait to jump into this book. The day I recieved it just happened to be taco night in our house. While scanning the book I found a recipe for Taco Salad, how perfect! I have to say not only was it quick and easy, but I do not think I have ever enjoyed taco night more.
Who loves bacon? I do, I do!
The next day for lunch I made made the BLT Salad. Come on! I never would have even thought of a BLT Salad, but thinking about it now, doesn't it just marry up perfectly? Lettuce, tomatoes, onions and BACON! With some homemade ranch dressing and fresh ground pepper corn, I had no guilt about eating bacon. It was delish!
Jennifer also has a website called Cook With Jennifer. This site has great information about her, her book and offers Featured Recipes from Simply Salads. What's featured right now? Confetti Chip Salad, yummy! Did you know that people whom consume just one salad a day have a higher level of nutrients that aid in a healthy immune system and lowers the risk of heart disease and obesity. I am thoroughly enjoying this cookbook and I encourage you to go get yourself a copy, you will love it.
Jennifer's cookbook is available where ever fine books are sold or on Amazon.com
